Eyeliner Skips Over Creased Lids
Eyeliner skips over creased lids when the skin is too dry, oily, or mobile for one long stroke. Short strokes over a set base create a cleaner line.
Part of mature beauty fixes and patchy beauty fixes .

What you'll need
- eyeshadow primer
- eyeliner pencil or gel liner
- small angled brush
- matte eyeshadow
Why it happened
Creased or textured lids move under pressure, so a liner tip can jump over folds. Short strokes give more control and reduce tugging. Primer evens out oil and helps the liner grip.
The fix
- 1prime the lid and let it set before liner
- 2make tiny dashes along the lash line instead of dragging one long line
- 3connect the dashes with a small angled brush
- 4set the line with matching matte shadow if it transfers
If it's still wrong
- Use a softer pencil if liquid liner keeps catching.
- Tightline the upper lashes instead of drawing a thick line above them.
Prevent next time
- Keep eye cream off the lash line before liner.
- Sharpen pencils so they do not drag.
Notes
Why this works
Liner needs a stable surface. On mobile or creased lids, dragging a pen or pencil can skip over texture and leave gaps.
Small dashes follow the shape of the eye without pulling the skin. Smudging or setting with shadow softens tiny imperfections while keeping the lash line defined.
Substitutions
- eyeshadow primer→concealer set with a little powder
- eyeliner pencil or gel liner→dark powder shadow applied wet
