Press-On Tabs Show Through
Press-on tabs show through when the nail is sheer, the tab is too large, or air gets trapped underneath. Better sizing and opaque styles hide the adhesive.

What you'll need
- adhesive tabs
- press-on nails
- small scissors
- alcohol wipe
Why it happened
Adhesive tabs can be visible under clear, jelly, or pale press-ons because the tab changes how light passes through the nail. Air bubbles make it even more obvious by creating cloudy spots.
The fix
- 1clean the natural nail with alcohol before applying tabs
- 2choose a tab slightly smaller than the press-on nail
- 3press from the cuticle area toward the tip to push out air
- 4use opaque or darker press-ons if tabs show through sheer nails
If it's still wrong
- Trim the tab so it does not extend past the press-on edges.
- Use liquid glue for sheer styles if tabs always show.
Prevent next time
- Save tabs for opaque nails or short wear.
- Avoid touching the sticky side before application.
Notes
Why this works
Adhesive tabs are convenient, but they add a visible layer. Sheer press-ons make that layer easier to see, especially if the tab is too wide or wrinkled.
Sizing the tab smaller and pressing out air creates a smoother bond. Opaque nails hide the adhesive best.
Substitutions
- adhesive tabs→nail glue
- small scissors→cuticle scissors used carefully
