Concealer Creasing Under Eyes

Concealer creases when too much product sits in a thin, mobile area that never sets. Using less, pressing it in, and setting with a light powder keeps it smooth for hours.

Concealer Creasing Under Eyes

What you'll need

  • creasing concealer
  • fine setting powder
  • small fluffy brush
  • damp sponge

Why it happened

The under-eye has thin, constantly moving skin and very little oil, so any product that is not set will collect in the creases as you blink and smile. Most creasing comes from applying too much concealer or skipping powder. A light dusting of setting powder absorbs surface moisture and holds the concealer in place without adding thickness.

The fix

  1. 1press the creased concealer smooth with a damp sponge to pick up the excess
  2. 2apply a thin veil of finely milled setting powder with a small fluffy brush
  3. 3press a clean fingertip over the area for a few seconds so body heat locks the powder in

If it's still wrong

  • Remove the area gently and reapply with half the product, pressing it in with a sponge.
  • Switch to a thinner, more hydrating concealer and use it only where you have darkness.

Prevent next time

  • Apply concealer in a small triangle and blend out, rather than coating the whole under-eye.
  • Set immediately with a small amount of powder before the concealer has time to move.

Notes

Why this works

Creasing is a mechanical problem. The skin under the eye folds thousands of times a day, and any film of product that has not bonded to the skin or been locked down with powder will migrate into those folds. The more product you layer on, the faster and deeper it creases.

A finely milled setting powder works by absorbing the small amount of oil and water that keeps concealer mobile, effectively freezing it in place. The trick is using a sheer amount: too much powder looks dry and emphasizes lines, while a thin veil is invisible but stabilizing. Warming it with a fingertip afterward helps the powder meld with the concealer for a seamless finish.
