Hair Gets Static Flyaways
Hair gets static flyaways when dry strands build friction against brushes, hats, or sweaters. Light moisture and a smoother brush routine calm frizz fast.

The fix
- mist the mid-lengths and ends with leave-in conditioner from 8 inches away
- detangle with a wide-tooth comb instead of repeatedly brushing dry hair
- warm 1 drop of hair serum between palms and skim it over flyaways
- smooth the outer layer once with a natural-bristle brush
If it’s still not right
- Switch to a metal or wood comb if plastic tools make the static worse.
- Add a small amount of leave-in cream to the ends if they feel rough or damaged.
Prevent it next time
- Condition the ends every wash day so they do not dry out as quickly.
- Avoid over-brushing dry hair after removing hats or scarves.
Notes
Why this works
Static is not the same as volume. It is a charge created by friction, and dry hair holds that charge more visibly because the cuticle has less moisture and slip.
Leave-in spray adds enough water and conditioning agents to reduce friction. A single drop of serum smooths the outer layer so flyaways lie closer to the rest of the hair.
