Mascara Wand Has Too Much Product
A mascara wand with too much product overloads lashes before you can shape them. Blotting the brush and starting at the roots gives cleaner volume.

The fix
- wipe both sides of the wand on tissue before touching the lashes
- apply mascara at the roots first, then pull lightly through the ends
- comb through with a clean spoolie before the coat dries
If it’s still not right
- Use only the tip of the wand on sparse areas.
- Clean the tube opening if product is collecting around the neck.
Prevent it next time
- Avoid pumping the wand in the tube.
- Blot new mascara for the first week of use.
Notes
Why this works
Mascara needs a thin, even film to build volume. When the wand is overloaded, the first swipe deposits more product than the lashes can hold separately.
Blotting gives you back control. The brush can reach between lashes, place product at the root, and leave the ends lighter.
