Nail Polish Peels in One Sheet
Nail polish peels in one sheet when oil, water, or thick coats stop it from gripping the nail. Dehydrating the nail plate and using thin layers helps it last.

The fix
- wash hands, dry them fully, and wait 10 minutes before painting
- swipe each nail with remover on a lint-free pad to remove oil
- apply one thin layer of base coat and cap the free edge
- use 2 thin polish coats, waiting 2 minutes between coats
- finish with top coat over the nail and free edge
If it’s still not right
- Lightly buff only the shiny surface if your nails are very smooth, then remove dust before base coat.
- Try a different base coat if the same polish peels every time.
Prevent it next time
- Do not soak nails right before polish.
- Keep cuticle oil off the nail plate until the manicure is fully dry.
Notes
Why this works
Peeling polish usually means the manicure did not bond well at the base. If the nail is damp or oily, the polish can dry as a separate film instead of gripping the surface.
Cleaning the nail plate and capping the edge gives the manicure more contact points. Thin coats also cure more evenly, so the finished layer is less likely to pull away in one piece.
