Liquid Eyeliner Cracks
Liquid eyeliner cracks when it is layered too thickly or applied over oily, moving lids. Thin strokes over a set base keep the line flexible.
Part of makeup beauty fixes and oily beauty fixes .

What you'll need
- eyeshadow primer
- liquid eyeliner
- matte eyeshadow
- cotton swab
Why it happened
Liquid liner dries into a film. If the film is too thick or disturbed while drying, it can split as the eyelid moves. Oil underneath also keeps parts of the line from bonding evenly.
The fix
- 1prime the lid and let it dry before liner
- 2draw the line in thin strokes instead of one heavy layer
- 3avoid going over the same spot repeatedly once liner starts drying
- 4set nearby oily areas with matte shadow, not heavy powder on top of the liner
If it's still wrong
- Switch to gel pencil if your lids are very textured or mobile.
- Remove cracked liner and restart rather than painting over flakes.
Prevent next time
- Keep eye cream away from the lash line before liner.
- Use small strokes where the lid folds.
Notes
Why this works
Cracking happens when a dry film cannot flex with the skin. The thicker the liner, the more likely it is to split.
Thin strokes create a more flexible line. A set base helps the liner attach evenly so it wears as one smooth layer.
Substitutions
- eyeshadow primer→concealer set with a little powder
- liquid eyeliner→gel liner applied with an angled brush
