Greasy Bangs Between Washes
Bangs get greasy fast because they touch forehead oil and skincare all day. Blot the roots, dry shampoo underneath, and reset the shape with cool air.
Part of hair beauty fixes and oily beauty fixes .

What you'll need
- tissue or blotting paper
- dry shampoo
- comb
- blow dryer
Why it happened
Bangs collect oil faster than the rest of the hair because they sit directly on the forehead, where skincare, sunscreen, sweat, and sebum transfer into the roots. Blotting removes surface oil first, and dry shampoo then absorbs what is left at the root instead of turning into a powdery paste.
The fix
- 1press tissue or blotting paper along the forehead and the underside of the bangs
- 2lift the bangs and spray dry shampoo at the roots from underneath, not on the top layer
- 3wait 30 seconds, then massage lightly and comb through
- 4blow-dry on cool air while brushing the bangs side to side to restore movement
If it's still wrong
- Wash just the bangs in the sink and blow-dry them forward if they are stringy.
- Pin them back until the roots are fully dry if they separate immediately.
Prevent next time
- Keep moisturizer and sunscreen away from the hairline when possible.
- Use dry shampoo before bed so it absorbs oil overnight.
Notes
Why this works
Bangs look greasy when oil weighs down the root and makes the hair clump into sections. Spraying dry shampoo only on top can leave a visible powder cast while the underside stays oily, so lifting the bangs and treating the root from below works better.
Cool air helps because it resets the direction without adding sweat or more oil at the hairline. Brushing side to side breaks up the separated pieces and brings back the soft bend that makes bangs look freshly styled.
Substitutions
- dry shampoo→a tiny amount of translucent powder brushed through the roots
- blow dryer→a clean round brush and a few minutes clipped away from the forehead
